Resources and Services: People In Need Forum

January 28, 2023, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.- The public is invited to register to learn about the abundance of resources and support for themselves and for others at the annual People in Need Forum each January at MCC. Exhibitors showcase important community resources available to help those in need and present workshops to address topics such as immigration, senior issues, caregiver resources, LGBTQ, substance abuse and addictions, and homelessness. The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged.

The forum is an excellent resource for human service agencies, faith-based organizations, civic group members, law enforcement, elected officials, school personnel, individuals interested in volunteer opportunities, or those seeking assistance.

Attendees receive a handout and flash drive with a community resource directory, which is the only one of its kind in the Chicago area.

About

The Neighbors Food Pantry began in the 1980s through a group of volunteers to alleviate hunger in our community. Over the last nearly 40 years, the pantry has grown in the number of families and individuals served and the number of community partners that support this work – and it is still operated entirely by volunteers!

In 2010, the Neighbors Food Pantry became a partner agency of the Northern Illinois Food Bank. And now today, the pantry is a partner ministry of the congregation of Nativity Lutheran Church. Today, we are providing food to as many as 500 families and individuals from across McHenry County – neighbors in need from Wonder Lake, McHenry, Woodstock and more!

Pantry Hours

Wednesdays: 10AM – 12PM*, Sundays: 11AM – 12PM*

All are welcome no matter your residence in McHenry County! *The last client is accepted 15 minutes prior to closing!
